The story behind the channel and the passion for technology
I'm passionate about sharing knowledge and helping others learn IT
Welcome to Foley Systems! This channel is my passion project where I share everything I've learned about homelab infrastructure, virtualization technologies, and enterprise networking equipment. My journey into IT started years ago with a simple interest in computers, which has evolved into a full-blown passion for building, configuring, and optimizing complex systems.
What began as a single Raspberry Pi running Pi-hole has grown into a comprehensive enterprise-grade homelab featuring Cisco routers, multiple Proxmox nodes, and dozens of services. Along the way, I've learned an incredible amount about networking, virtualization, storage, security, and automation. Now, I want to share that knowledge with you.
I believe that the best way to learn is by doing, and homelabs provide the perfect environment for hands-on learning without the risk of breaking production systems. Whether you're studying for your CCNA, building your first homelab, or looking to expand your existing setup, I'm here to help guide you on that journey.
Complete guides on building and managing your own homelab, from hardware selection to service deployment
Hands-on demonstrations with real enterprise equipment including ISR routers, Catalyst switches, and security appliances
In-depth tutorials on Proxmox, VMware, containers, and managing virtual infrastructure
Real-world tips on security, monitoring, backups, automation, and maintaining reliable systems
I believe in practical, hands-on education. Every tutorial is based on real equipment and real configurations that I use in my own homelab. I don't just show you how to configure something – I explain why we're doing it, what problems it solves, and how it fits into the bigger picture.
Technology should be accessible to everyone. While I work with enterprise equipment, I always try to show budget-friendly alternatives and explain concepts in a way that's easy to understand, regardless of your experience level.
I love hearing from viewers! Whether you have questions, suggestions, or just want to share your own homelab journey, feel free to reach out.
